Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most enthusiastically celebrated festivals in India.A lot of preparation is required to be made through the day and while this is clearly a fun time, we tend to skip meals, eat lot of sweet and often forget to take care of our health. Here are a few Do’s & Don’ts by Tripti Gupta one must do during the festival and keep yourself healthy and refreshed:
The best way to compensate for any indulgence is by activity. Start your day with a brisk walk to keep your blood sugar levels in check.
Include high fiber combinations such as Vegetable juices, oats, salads and low glycemic index foods through the day to accommodate desserts in the form of prasad etc.
Stay active through the day in addition to the extra morning walk.
Eat your meals before you step out for your visits or prayers, you don’t want to overindulge because you’re hungry.
Choose small portions of sweets when offered, always include plenty of water and green tea to wash out the sugar from your system.
Choose smart drinks such as lime juice, coconut water, buttermilk or green tea over sherbets and fizzy drinks which can play havoc on your sugar.
Grab an extra brisk walk whenever possible to manage the extra sugar intake.
